Attorney General William Barr has been under fire from Nancy Pelosi and her minions. Pelosi, if you can believe this, said we are in a constitutional crisis and backed the contempt charges of Barr.
Did she forget about Eric Holder and the lawless regime of Barack Obama? No, she is too smart for that, she just hopes you forgot about it. (see video below)
Remember, the GOP Congress tried to work it out with Obama and Holder and negotiated for years before taking their drastic step.
Something Pelosi, but not Bill Barr hopes you have forgotten. From Newsweek:
“The administration has decided that they are not going to honor their oath of office,” said Pelosi. “Every day, they are advertising their obstruction of justice by ignoring subpoenas and by declaring that people shouldn’t come and speak to Congress.”
Pelosi’s comments followed similar remarks from Wednesday by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler.
“The phrase ‘constitutional crisis’ has been overused, but certainly,” Nadler told CNN when asked. “Certainly, it’s a constitutional crisis, although I don’t like to use that phrase because it’s been used for far less dangerous situations.”
Enter Bill Barr speaking at Rod Rosenstein’s going away party: “In those days, the deputy job was a lot different.”
“But I’ll tell you now, the attorney general job is a lot different also. This must be a record, of an attorney general being proposed for contempt within 100 days of taking office,” Barrsaid.
“As a law student at Harvard, Rod interned in the U.S. Attorney’s office in the district of Massachusetts, and the acting U.S. Attorney in that office at the time was none other than Bob Mueller. Bob went on to be assistant attorney general for the Criminal Division where Rod was first assigned as an honors program lawyer. Little did we know that we’d be getting the old band back together again.”
From The Washington Examiner: During a farewell ceremony for his Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, Barr poked fun at House Democrats.
“You like records,” Barr said at the Justice Department event, referring to Rosenstein. “This must be a record for an attorney general being proposed for contempt within a hundred days of taking office.”
From Fox News: But Nadler took a very different stance on contempt back in 2012, when House Republicans took the same step against then-AG Eric Holder for refusing to hand over documents related to the Fast and Furious gun-running scandal, where DOJ officials tracked thousands of guns smuggled across the border but did nothing to stop them.
“Just joined the #walkout of the House chamber to protest the shameful, politically-motivated GOP vote holding AG [Eric] Holder in contempt,” Nadler tweeted in 2012.
He joined more than 100 Democrats in walking out over the vote to hold the Obama-era DOJ leader in contempt.
Then-House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., argued House Republicans were more politically motivated in attacking Holder than driven to get to the bottom of the failed operation.
“What is happening here is shameful,” said Pelosi.
