Cindy McCain, the widow of late Sen. John McCain, blasted authorities who were “afraid” to arrest convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein even though everyone “knew” what he was doing.
“Epstein was hiding in plain sight,” said Cindy McCain. “We all knew about him. We all knew what he was doing, but we had no one that was — no legal aspect that would go after him. They were afraid of him. For whatever reason, they were afraid of him.”
McCain’s comments came after she was questioned by an attendee during her appearance at the State of the World 2020 conference in Florida.

McCain said a girl from her daughter’s high school was one of Epstein’s victims and that she hopes Epstein “is in hell.”
Epstein’s massive wealth and his connections to powerful politicians and celebrities allowed him to continue trafficking young women and girls long after many had exposed his devious interests.
Dr. Barbara Sampson, the New York City medical examiner, said Epstein died by suicide at a Manhattan federal detention facility last August.

Rashida Tlaib just got some very bad news from a House ethics investigation into her use of campaign funds. The investigation just released their findings and they determined that Tlaib violated federal campaign finance rules.

“Representative Tlaib’s violation of the applicable restrictions was one of bad timing and not ill intent,” the report read.

“Representative Tlaib engaged in good faith efforts to comply with the relevant FECA requirements.” Tlaib must pay to repay $10,800.

“Rep. Tlaib hopes the Federal Election Commission will issue updated guidance clarifying the regulations regarding candidate salaries to allow more working-class candidates to run for Congress,” Tlaib told the Detroit News.

The House Committee on Ethics ordered Tlaib to repay a $10,800 salary she drew from campaign funds after the 2018 election, closing an investigation that began more than a year ago.

The committee determined no sanction was necessary, concluding that Tlaib “engaged in good faith efforts” to comply with federal regulations and did not seek to enrich herself with campaign donations.

Candidates are permitted to draw a salary from their campaign committee until the date of the general election. Tlaib legally paid herself $45,500 from campaign donations during her first bid for Congress in 2018, a report released Friday found she violated finance regulations by collecting payments after the election.


“These payments allowed her to forego her salary from her full-time employment so that she could fully participate in campaign activities,” the report read. “However, because she received some of those funds, totaling $10,800, for time periods in which she was no longer a congressional candidate, those funds were inconsistent with FECA’s personal use restrictions.”

Tlaib’s campaign independently researched whether she could be paid with campaign funds and consulted former Michigan Democratic Party Chairman Mark Brewer on the issue. Documents included in the report found staff noted that payments needed to stop after the general election, and ultimately the committee found Tlaib’s violation was “one of bad timing.”

The investigation was closed just three days after Tlaib won the 13th District Democratic primary. Tlaib is seeking a second two-year term representing the predominantly Democratic district

Today we find that the Durham probe is winding up and John Brennan will testify in the investigation into what in the hell happened in 2016.

This is not good news for Brennan and others who have been fiercely anti-Trump in their tone, rhetoric, and actions. We will soon find out if they crossed the line and committed criminal acts in the zeal to take down Trump.

The investigation ordered by Attorney General William Barr into how the CIA and the FBI looked into the Trump campaign’s connections to Russia’s 2016 election interference operation may be nearing a conclusion, people familiar with it say.

One indication is that the prosecutor in charge, Connecticut U.S. Attorney John Durham, has asked to interview former CIA Director John Brennan, according to a person familiar with the request. Brennan has agreed to be interviewed, and the details are being worked out, the person said.

Attorney General William Barr told Congress last month that he would not wait until after the election to present Durham’s findings if they are finalized.

Barr has made clear he believes Obama administration officials acted wrongfully when they opened a counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign’s dealings with Russians, but the Justice Department’s inspector general found that the investigation was justified and untainted by political bias.


Democrats in Congress and elsewhere say the Barr-Durham investigation smacks of a politically motivated effort to help President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign.

Brennan, a vocal critic of Trump and an NBC News analyst, has been the subject of intense scrutiny by Durham. Brennan was director of the CIA from 2013 until the day of Trump’s inauguration. The New York Times reported in December that the prosecutor was reviewing Brennan’s emails, call logs and other records, which was confirmed to NBC News by a person familiar with the matter.

Durham is looking into whether Brennan took politicized actions to pressure the rest of the intelligence community to match his conclusions about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s motivations, according to sources cited by the Wall Street Journal.

These sources said Durham has been interviewing CIA officials this year, focusing on the National Intelligence Council, a center within the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, which oversaw the collaboration between the CIA, FBI, and National Security Agency in putting together the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment on Russian meddling. Barr confirmed Durham is scrutinizing the assessment.

“There was definitely Russian, uh, interference,” Barr said in June. “I think Durham is looking at the intelligence community’s ICA — the report that they did in December [2016]. And he’s sort of examining all the information that was based on, the basis for their conclusions. So to that extent, I still have an open mind, depending on what he finds.”

The 2017 assessment concluded with “high confidence” that Putin “ordered an influence campaign in 2016,” and Russia worked to “undermine public faith” in U.S. democracy, “denigrate” former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, “harm her electability and potential presidency,” and “developed a clear preference” for Donald Trump.

The NSA diverged on one aspect, expressing only “moderate confidence” that Putin actively tried to help Trump win and Clinton lose.

The Senate Intelligence Committee released a report in April defending the intelligence community assessment, saying that Senate investigators found no evidence of political pressure to reach a specific conclusion and determining that the assessments by the CIA, FBI, and NSA present “a coherent and well-constructed intelligence basis for the case of unprecedented Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.”

The 66-year-old host said that white people have a “leg up.”

“There are white people who are not as powerful as the system of white people — the caste system that’s been put in place — but they still, no matter where they are on the rung, or the ladder of success, they still have their whiteness,” she said.

“You still have your whiteness. That’s what the term ‘white privilege’ is. It means that whiteness still gives you an advantage, no matter,” she continued.

Acho called on white parents to help teach their children how to be anti-racist.

“Here’s what I told my friends with their white children,” he began. “I said, ‘Y’all live in a white cul-de-sac, in a white neighborhood, in a white city, in a white state. If you were not careful, your children will live their whole white life, and at 26, 27, they’ll end up being a part of the problem, because you just let them and allowed them to live a completely white, sheltered and cultureless life.”

He added that white people “run American.”

“CEOs, Fortune 500 companies, execs, ownership, they run America. Not an individual white person, but collective white people,” he continued. “I firmly believe that if the white person is your problem, only the white person can be your solution.”

The episode comes amid a time of national conversation around racial inequality and police brutality following the death of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man who was killed in police custody. A white officer was seen kneeling on his neck for several minutes while Floyd said he could not breathe.

Winfrey recently sought to bring attention to the death of Breonna Taylor, a Black EMT killed by police in Louisville, Ky., by using Taylor’s image on the cover of O magazine. It was the first time someone other than Winfrey has graced the cover.

Obama highlighted Trump’s decision to send federal agents to Portland, saying they used “tear gas and batons against peaceful demonstrators,” as well as Trump’s opposition to increased funding for the postal service given how necessary it may be on November 3rd.

“Even as we sit here there are those in power who are doing their darnedest to discourage people from voting by closing polling locations, and targeting minorities and students with restrictive I.D. laws, and attacking our voting rights with surgical precision, even undermining the postal service in the run-up to an election that’s gonna be dependent on mail-in ballots so people don’t get sick,” Obama said.

From The Hill: Former President Obama on Thursday called the Senate filibuster rule a “Jim Crow relic” and said it should be ended to pass legislation that would restore a key provision of the Voting Rights Act.


Obama made the remarks while delivering a eulogy for civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), who died earlier this month at the age of 80. The John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act would make it harder for states to enact racially suspect voting restrictions.

“Once we pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, we should keep marching,” Obama said. “And if all this takes eliminating the filibuster — another Jim Crow relic — in order to secure the God-given rights of every American, then that’s what we should do.”

The former president’s support for nixing the filibuster — a procedural tactic that requires 60 votes for legislation to proceed — is likely to spark intense political debate. If Democrats win back both the Senate and the White House, they will be under pressure to get rid of the filibuster rule in order to push through high-priority legislation.

Changing Senate rules through a simple majority, a move sometimes referred to as the “nuclear option,” would be highly controversial, and it’s unclear if Democrats would have the political will or the votes needed to end the procedure.

But doing so would allow a Democratic-controlled Senate to pass measures like the Lewis bill on voting rights.

That measure is a response to the Supreme Court’s 2013 decision in Shelby County v. Holder, a 5-4 ruling that struck down Section 5 of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. The provision required states with a recent history of racism at the ballot box to get federal approval — or preclearance — before changing their voting laws.

From 2015 to 2019, state Sen. Katrina Robinson is accused of stealing the money that was granted to The Healthcare Institute — a company she directed, according to prosecutors.

In addition to covering her wedding costs, Robinson, a Democrat from a Memphis district elected in 2018, is charged with using the funds to pay for her honeymoon and pay legal fees for her divorce, the feds charge.

With the stolen money the lawmaker also paid for her daughter’s 2016 Jeep Renegade, home improvements, a $500 Louis Vuitton handbag and invested in a snow cone business run by her children, prosecutors and the FBI said.

Robinson was charged with theft, embezzlement and wire fraud.

Ted said today he will introduce a bill to allow citizens harmed by failed local policies to sue for damage payments.
“What you and I don’t have a right to do is hurt somebody else,” Ted said on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom.” “You don’t have the right to assault somebody else. To firebomb a police car and the loot and destroy a small business to murder a police officer. Sadly we have seen all of that in riots throughout the country, and that has been facilitated and even encouraged by Democratic politicians who have made a very cynical decision not to allow the police officers to protect physical safety.”

Ted continued saying his “Reclaim Act” will allow a person injured or who has damaged property to sue the city or municipality and get triple damages if officials deliberately withheld police protection.
“In addition, any city that refuses to provide police to protection during a riot is denied eligibility for federal funds,” Cruz said.


“It’s wrong and it’s endangering people’s lives and it’s denying the basic civil rights that every American is entitled to.”
“Our national debt is over $26 trillion and we are literally bankrupting our kids and grandkids,” said Cruz about more stimulus.
“Our objective should be maximizing the rewards for working and getting people back in the workforce and I believe the election in November is going to turn on that question,” said Cruz.
“If we are back at work Donald Trump wins. We need to be getting people back to work, not just printing money or borrowing it from China.”
Ted of course is not up for re-election and Trump is and if no more stimulus gets passed Trump will get a lot of the blame.

Per Fox News: House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., was involved in a car accident Tuesday morning on his way to Washington but was not injured, a Nadler spokesman said.
Nadler was not driving, Fox News is told.
While he was not hurt, the accident will delay the start of a planned hearing that Nadler is set to preside over with Attorney General Bill Barr.

President Donald Trump said Sunday he’s postponed his plan to throw out the opening pitch at a New York Yankees game next month, extending his run as the only modern president to not take part in the longstanding tradition.


The President cited his “strong focus” on the coronavirus pandemic and the economy as reasons for the delay, but still promised, “We will make it later in the season!”
The deferral comes after Trump announced Thursday that he had agreed to throw out the ceremonial first pitch on August 15.
Speaking from the White House briefing room podium, Trump said the team’s president Randy Levine “asked me to throw out the first pitch” at Yankee Stadium. Trump said he accepted the offer and asked Levine, “How’s the crowd going to be?”
“You don’t have a crowd,” the President said. “There’s no such thing.”
That announcement came about an hour before Dr. Anthony Fauci — the nation’s top infectious disease specialist who has recently served as a punching bag for some in the White House — threw out the first pitch at Nationals Park in Washington.

On one side, the DNC wants to give America more money, in the form of both stimulus checks and ongoing federal unemployment aid.
On the other hand, the GOP would rather send the country back to work, and limit the rising costs of the epidemic.
And some Republicans believe Democrats are using this situation to snag funds for their own gain.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is one of them.
During CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Cruz flat-out accused House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of taking advantage of the coronavirus situation.

I just listened to your interview with Speaker Pelosi … her objectives are shoveling cash at the problem and shutting America down.
 And in particular, you look at the three trillion dollar bill she’s trying to push. It’s just shoveling money to her friends and not actually solving the problem.

Cruz specifically cited the additional $600 per week to unemployment, which Democrats want to hand out in the next relief bill.
He says there’s a big problem with that:
Simply, he says the majority of people receiving this aid are making more on unemployment than they ever made at their job.
Cruz concluded by saying he’s “on board with restarting the economy,” and further accused Democrats of using the pandemic for political reasons:
The only objective Democrats have is to defeat Donald Trump, and they’ve cynically decided the best way to defeat Donald Trump is shut down every business in America, shut down every school in America.
Cruz also pointed out that Pelosi’s bill “has a big tax cut for millionaires and billionaires in blue states.”
Republicans believe the best path to recovery involves sending people back to work ASAP. Democrats seem to believe we need more federal aid instead.
The two sides are racing to reach an agreement — the only question will be, which side has to concede more?
And will America be satisfied with the result?
