Americans have been forced to ask why Democrats appear so unwilling to uphold law and order. Early in the Summer, Democrats ignored violence to focus on protests against police brutality.
But that movement ended long ago. Recent weeks have brought destruction, rioting, and death.
Perhaps the recent mass shooting in front of a funeral home was too much for Lightfoot to ignore. As the weeks roll on, more and more Chicago natives are being shot and killed.
As the toll climbs, it is becoming harder for Democrats to pretend its business as usual. They promised to defund police departments. Almost immediately, climb skyrocketed.
It seems this strategy to ignore the violence and accuse Trump of being a dictator is failing. The public appears to be blaming local leaders for this rash of crime.
Perhaps Mayor Lightfoot realized that all her posturing doesn’t matter if innocent children continue to die.
Standing up to Trump means little when your own people are being gunned down by criminals.
Whatever the case, it appears Lightfoot has been forced to eat her words. After saying Trump’s federal agents were not allowed in her city, she is agreeing to it.
Not that she can take credit for the soon-to-come drop in crime. She and her party were against it.
