After Hundreds Of Protesters Block Texas Highway – The Police Chief Whips Out 647 Zip-Tie Handcuffs

Protests and riots continue to create chaoss across the nation.

Still feeling the impact of the George Floyd situation, citizens around the country have been demonstrating in large gatherings.

Some have been mostly peaceful while others have resulted in damage and injury — and occasionally, arrests must be made.

For example, if the police say you’re breaking the law, you should probably heed their warning.

That’s the message sent by Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall.

Nearly 700 people blocked a major highway in the city and though peaceful, they were breaking the law.

And they chose not to listen to the police warnings about being arrested (via The Daily Wire):

Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall had nearly 700 individuals taken into custody and hit with at-large arrest charges after they blocked a major highway in the city.

 After blocking the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, 647 protesters were put in zip-tie handcuffs.

Hall quickly took some flak for her decision.

However, the Chief remain unapologetic and says she clearly warned the protesters.

As she told Fox 4: “We warned them. If you break the law, we will arrest you.”

As far as Hall is concerned, it’s about upholding law and order. Nothing more.

In other words, it’s not about making or contesting a political statement. In her view, via CBS News:

There are many who question and are not happy with the decisions that I made on yesterday.

Let me be clear, I am not here to make people happy. My job and our job in law enforcement is to keep this city safe. We have pledged that. We will do that. And that is our goal.

Specifically, protesters broke penal code 42.03, which states as follows:

“…obstruction of a highway or passageway, says they are not allowed to walk in the middle of the roadway or freeway or overpass.”

Hall and her colleagues warned the protesters and told them to stop. When they didn’t, the zip-ties came out.

It really is that simple. The only question is, will the citizens see it that way, too…?
